Google has in fact launched its own iPhone app baptized Motion Stills as stock gif is in the standard format.
The idea of Google is to incorporate service in Photos fullness of time. Things go defintiv better for Google’s photo-commitment after they weeded out Google+.
Share with everyone, even without a Google Account
You do not need to be online to create gif one, you do not need a Google account either. Gif-one can be shared in messages, email or shared through another app.
You can also combine multiple Live Photos with the app (when made a real movie file instead of a gif). The only thing you do not get with the sound.
