Picasa has long been the choice of many who want a simple image processing and management tools. There has been free and relatively easy to use, but dark clouds have been above this service long now.
Now lights go out
As of 1 May this year, Google will extinguish the lights on Picasa for good. This has after all been on the cards since Google Photos launched. By separating out services Photos and Hangouts, they have given a clear signal about what they are going to bet on and no.

Picasa Web Albums
If you have images in a Picasa Web Album today so the easiest way to access most of the content to log into Google Photos. According to post all your photos and videos will be available there. There will also be through Google Photos you in the future want to upload, edit and share your photos and videos.
If for some reason you do not want to use Google Photos, or if you wish to offer their view specific content in your for archives as keywords, captions or comments that would create a way to get access to this.
– One thing that is important to emphasize, none of this happens today. If you have Picasa Web Albums so you can continue and use this as normal until 01.05.2016, clarifies Sabharwal.
The support and development of desktop application stops already in March, specifically the 15. From this date will no longer Google develop or launch updates and bug fixes for this program.
The application will continue and operate as it does today, but no new funsjoner or bug fixes are released. Instead, you can use a tool to upload images from your computer to Google Phtotos, which you can find here.
